FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Are you members of any of any autograph associations?

A. We have submitted our application to AFTAL (Autograph Fair Trade Association Ltd) and we'll have to wait a few months before our application will be complete and verified. We're hoping to have something sorted for March 2012. We'll post more information on our homepage as soon as we have feedback from AFTAL. We also hope that our customers will be reassured to know that GenMem Director, Dave Sherwood, is an Award Winning Police Community Support Officer for Surrey Police (see About Us).

Q. Are your signatures hand signed by the person?

A. All our items are genuine - they're signed by the person, ie George Michael. They're not prints or copies. Every item is unique and original.

Q. Do I have to buy online or can I pay by cheque?

A. You can pay be cheque but you'll to phone us to arrange this and bear in mind it will take longer for you to receive the item as it won't be despatched until the cheque has cleared.

Q. Do you value autographs?

A. We don't value anything and we don't buy memorabilia from anyone ever apart from our close contacts, ie AFTAL members.

Q. I’ve surfed through lots of memorabilia websites and have been to memorabilia shops. How come your prices are so good? I’m not complaining it’s just I’ve seen an identical Frank Lampard signed shirt in a shop for £750 and your price is only £175.

A. It’s a very good question and one we’re often asked. Firstly, we’re not greedy and we want our customers to feel they’re getting great value for money – that way they’ll come back for more and tell their friends about us. We also have lower overheads as we go out of our way to do our own collecting.

Q. Do you specialise in anyone in particular? Which celebrities do you see most often?

A. We don’t really specialise in anyone/anything in particular but Dave (our main collector) is a huge Chelsea FC and Paul Weller fan. It really depends, for example some months we may meet someone several times and then it may be difficult to catch up with them for months or even years.

Q. I’ve noticed some people’s signatures slightly differ, why is this?

A. A good example of this is Chelsea’s John Terry and Michael Essien. If they have time they will sign their names in full (like signing a cheque) but if they’re rushed or being hounded by a crowd they may only initial or tail-off with a squiggle.

Q. Do you supply a Certificate of Authenticity with items?

A. Yes we do. And in support of authentification we try to have photographic evidence of the signing too but we can't get them for every signature. A Certificate of Authenticity is only as good as the company that supplies it because anyone can create a certificate of this nature. So it's reassuring to have one when you trust your source but it's not proof of authenticy - rely on your instinct when purchasing autographs - see our Tips & Hints page for further information.

Q. Do you donate items to charity events?

A. Sorry, no we don’t as we already support and hold events for our own chosen charities throughout the year.

Q. Do you discount on multiple purchases?

A. Orders over £1,000. Our items are already very competitive and amongst the best value on the market.
